According to recent media reports, Real Madrid have planned the future for their Brazilian wonderkid forward, Endrick, when he returns from Lyon
Even before the January transfer window had officially opened, Real Madrid made the decision to loan out Brazilian teenage prodigy Endrick to Ligue 1 giants Lyon until the end of the season, after limited game time in the Spanish capital.
In fact, the teenager had such limited opportunity at Real Madrid that he had only played a total of just 99 minutes in the first half of the season, only nine minutes more than one whole game of football. This after playing just 898 minutes in the entirety of last season, the equivalent of just under ten full games of football (albeit he did have an injury at some point).
Nevertheless, it was clear that he needed somewhere to go and play games, especially with the World Cup on the horizon, and having not made any of Carlo Ancelotti's first four squads in charge for qualifiers and friendlies.
Safe to say, it has proven to be a very good decision. In Ligue 1 alone, Endrick has scored four goals, provided six assists, and created eight big chances in 13 games, with 11 of those being starts. He also scored two goals and provided an assist in the Coupe de France, as well as scoring once in the Europa League.
So, plenty of minutes, plenty of goals, and plenty of assists. The Brazilian was rewarded for his fine form with a recall to the national team back in March, registering an assist and winning a penalty in a 3-1 win over Croatia over in the USA.
This run of form out on loan has lead to many people wondering; what happens to Endrick next season? Is he loaned out again? Does he come back to Real Madrid and become part of the first team set up.
Well, according to Spanish outlet Diario AS, Los Blancos have decided to give the forward a "massive role" next season. They state he could start alongside Vinicius and Kylian Mbappe, off the right hand side, and that he will "never" be loaned out again.
An interesting report. Endrick has had a mixed role over in France. He has played as a nominal right winger in some games, whilst also playing as a split striker, on the right of the two, in other games.
Ironically, he would fit perfectly at Real Madrid in the 23/24 team alongside Vinicius. But, of course, there is now Mbappe in the team. Therefore, a nominal right wing role may well have to be the play.
