A player recently announced on social media that he will become a father for the first time, curiously doing so amid criticism from his coach over a lack of performance.

Real Madrid loanee Endrick, currently playing for Olympique de Lyon, announced that he would become a first-time father in a video posted on social media. The audiovisual production, more than two minutes long, included the participation of his wife Gabriely Miranda, their pets, and a biblical phrase that accompanied the revelation: "You are our love in the form of life! You knitted me together in the womb — Psalm 139:13."

In addition to the video, the couple shared a series of images, similar to those appearing in the recording, with the caption: "Now we are five," referring to the two of them, the baby, and the pets. The post quickly surpassed 1 million likes on Instagram and drew thousands of comments from users wishing them the best during the pregnancy.

The bond between Endrick, 19, and Gabriely began with a bet tied to a match between Cuiaba and Botafogo: the woman proposed to the footballer that if Cuiaba won, they would start dating. Miranda acknowledged that the result of the match was the origin of the relationship and thanked Cuiaba for their romantic beginning.

She also recounted that the first time she saw Endrick at a shopping mall in 2022, she did not know he was a footballer, allowing her to form an initial impression unrelated to his public notoriety.

The couple formalized their bond on two occasions. After a first engagement held without witnesses on Sept. 16, 2024, in Madrid, they had a second wedding in July 2025 when he was 18, and she was 21, this time surrounded by their loved ones.

Endrick began his professional career at Palmeiras and was transferred to Real Madrid in late 2022, when he was 16. The deal was around $60 million, and his incorporation into the Spanish club was made official in mid-2024, once he came of age. Later, the forward was loaned from Real Madrid to the French team in search of playing time.

The formalization of the relationship was accompanied by the signing of a couple's contract, as Miranda revealed on the podcast Pod Delas. That document, presented before a notary in April, states that both "declare to be in a voluntary affective relationship based on respect, understanding, and affection" and explicitly includes a clause that strictly prohibits either party from acquiring any vices.

The news comes as the Brazilian attacker has six goals and five assists in 15 matches in France and is experiencing some uncertainty. Olympique de Lyon coach Paulo Fonseca publicly urged the Brazilian forward to improve his performance after scoring only one goal in nine recent matches. "Endrick must do more," the coach said in a press conference ahead of the match against Lorient.

The coach pointed to the player's low performance: "I was not satisfied with Endrick's match against Angers. I am not here to destroy him, but he has an obligation to do more. Right now, we are relying on a player who was playing in the Portuguese third division (Moreira). Endrick needs to give more of himself and be more available."

The scoring drought of the player on loan from Real Madrid worries the French club, which was recently eliminated from both the French Cup and the Europa League by Celta Vigo. The Brazilian has not scored in the league since his hat trick against Metz on Jan. 25.

In his career with Brazil's senior national team, Endrick has participated in 15 matches, distributed among South American Qualifiers, friendlies, and the Copa America. During that cycle, he has recorded three goals and two assists. His most recent call-up came from Carlo Ancelotti for the March friendlies against France and Croatia, and he dreams of being called to make the Scratch's roster for the 2026 World Cup.
