The club’s leadership issued a statement to deny rumors regarding a supposed structural change within Real Madrid’s board of directors.

Real Madrid has released an official statement on Tuesday, firmly denying that it will hire a sporting director in the near future.

“Real Madrid C.F. communicates that the information disseminated by the program El Larguero on Cadena Ser this past night, in which it is claimed that our club is studying adding a sporting director to its structure, is completely false and without any foundation,” Madrid shared on its social media channels.

In the official statement, it is notably highlighted that “Real Madrid greatly values the outstanding work that the club’s sporting management has been doing for years, which has allowed us to live one of the most successful periods in our entire history with the achievement of numerous titles, including 6 European Cups in just 10 years.”

The program ‘El Larguero’ on Cadena Ser had previously reported that Real Madrid is seriously studying adding a sporting director to its sporting structure and that an external agency is already carefully evaluating several profiles to fill this position at the white club starting next season.

"Real Madrid will go into the market to sign a midfielder and probably a reliable center back. But these might not be the only changes as we look ahead to next year. This was reported by Anton Meana on El Larguero of Cadena Ser, where he explained that the white club is now considering bringing back the figure of the sporting director.

For several years now, the team has operated without this position, centralizing all power in the figure of the general director. But everything could change quite soon,” publishes Cadena Ser.

Anton Meana further explained that “it is not a decision that is already taken, but they are seriously analyzing a restructuring that might not be limited only to the squad. Madrid has a very well-known hierarchical structure, with Florentino Perez, the board of directors, executives like Jose Angel Sanchez, Juni Calafat, Santiago Solari, plus many, many, many others.

What we are reliably told is that within that structure, they are actively studying the possibility of adding a figure that has not existed at the club independently for a very long time.”
