According to reports on Sunday evening (the 23rd of August, 2026), Real Madrid have knocked back an approach from LOSC Lille for a first team player.
Although Real Madrid's season has now got underway, with Saturday night's late, late win over RCD Espanyol in La Liga, the summer transfer window will remain open for more than a week yet.
This annoys a lot of managers and people in the game generally, citing the transfer window as a distraction when you also have to prepare for games in the meantime. Plus, there can be players who leave despite playing in the first game or two of the season.
All in all, it is far from ideal, and a lot of people would sign up to having the deadline be the day before the season starts. But, it is what it is. The window will remain open for another nine days or so, and there is still time for deals to be done in both directions.
Well, one club who wanted to get some more business done are Ligue 1 side, LOSC Lille, whom are managed by former Real Madrid coach, Davide Ancelotti, son of Carlo.
Indeed so, as according to The Athletic journalist, Mario Cortegana, the French outfit have made an approach to sign Real Madrid first team player, Thiago Pitarch, as their replacement for Ayyoub Bouaddi, whom is about to sign for Premier League side Manchester City.
Interestingly, he also mentions that Pitarch has signed a new contract with the club this week. His existing deal only had 12 months left to run - well technically 10 months - so that was handy to get done for sure. He credits fellow journalist, Rodra as being the first player to break the news re the contract.
So, there we go. The approach was turned down, a contract was signed, so we can be sure that he will be staying in the Spanish capital this summer. The youngster had been linked with an Alvaro Arbeloa reunion at Fulham, but they opted to sign Cesar Palacios as their midfield signing from Real Madrid instead, as well as striker Gonzalo Garcia. In fact, you can see them in action against Xabi Alonso's Chelsea tomorrow night.
Having featured, and for all intense and purposes, impressed during the U19 Euros in the summer, the midfielder has missed the start of the season through injury, and is expected to return to action some time next month, which will be handy considering the UEFA Champions League and Copa del Rey will soon follow, so the whole squad will be needed at Jose Mourinho's disposal.
