Real Madrid star Vinicius Junior has been the centre of all controversial things during the recent past and two recent opinions seemingly sums up the Brazilian perfectly.

Real Madrid lacked some basic qualities, such as temperament and character, in the first leg of the quarter-final tie against Bayern Munich at the Santiago Bernabéu yesterday.

A few of Los Blancos' stars looked completely out of place against a confident Bayern side, who played brilliant yet simple football that the hosts evidently failed to counter, as they lost the first leg 2-1.

Madrid's defense was surely a visible weak link yesterday, although the likes of Kylian Mbappe and Vinícius Jr. also missed out on chances that, on any other day, the duo would have buried in the opposition net, taking nothing away from the brilliant display by Manuel Neuer.

As we try to dissect Los Blancos' missed chances during the game, Vini Jr.'s miss in the 61st minute would definitely be on top of that list as the Brazilian failed to convert a one-on-one against Neuer after the ball was literally gifted to Vini by Bayern's Jonathon Tah.

The Bernabeu almost erupted with disbelief as Vini looked to the heavens in frustration as the home fans started raining whistles against the 25-year-old despite the player creating an ample amount of chances for his team throughout the 90 minutes.

As it seems, Vini received two contradictory opinions over his performance against the German side.

The first one came from former Real Madrid player Rafael van der Vaart, who seemingly criticized the Brazilian for his antics during the game, saying (via Ziggo Sport), "Vinicius is horrible. He annoys me to no end when I see him. I find it incredibly sad because he's a fantastic player. But as soon as he gets a little push, he throws himself down, hoping to see a red card for the opponent, and then gets up as if nothing happened. That's the part that I find sad about him."

On the other hand, Bayern manager Vincent Kompany expressed a more supportive opinion of Vinicius while speaking to Amazon Prime (h/t GOAL), saying, "Vini must stay exactly as he is. He has my total support - regardless of whether he is an opposing player or not,"

The Belgian manager also added, "You need players who are different. We enjoy these players' success. It was the same with Franck Ribery at Bayern. You are allowed to have an opinion, but you must never cross a line. That is why I have a lot of respect for Vini."

Both of these opinions seemingly sum up the player quite brilliantly as Vini has been a character who is undoubtedly one of the best players in world football currently, but sometimes his extracurricular activities on the field paint a completely different picture of the Brazilian superstar.

But as it stands, Los Blancos would definitely need Vinicius Junior to be at his very best if they are to outshine the German side during the second leg encounter in Munich.
