According to recent reports from the Spanish media, Real Madrid are showing a keen interest in signing AFC Bournemouth and England national team midfielder, Alex Scott to try and bolster their midfield.

One of the most common and discussed topics in Real Madrid circles is the lack of a top class, controlling, pass first midfielder in the side.

Ever since Toni Kroos retired in the summer of 2024, and even more so since Luka Modric's departure to AC Milan 12 months later, it has been regularly suggested that the team is lacking that type of deep lying midfielder who can control the game and help the team to sustain possession, especially against the so called lesser sides in domestic games.

It is clear that the club finally seem to think so too, with the pursuit of Rodri back in the summer transfer window, who eventually joined rivals FC Barcelona. There have also been links to similar profiles of midfielder, such as Martin Zubimendi.

Well, the links to a controlling midfielder do not seem to be going away. Indeed not, as it is being reported by Spanish journalist, Miguel Serrano (via theMadridZone) that Real Madrid are interested in AFC Bournemouth midfielder, Alex Scott.

He states that the club have asked Bournemouth to be the first club informed if the midfielder is put up for sale. They are far from the only club interested in the 23-year old, with Arsenal, Manchester United, Manchester City (awkward), Spurs, Liverpool and Chelsea - whom saw a £68m bid rejected for the midfielder in the summer - also said to be keen in his services.

This would be a great addition. Scott is the real deal, he has gone up to another level during his time on the South Coast, and made his debut for the England national team in their 2-0 win over Czechia in midweek, a game that saw Real Madrid right-back, Trent Alexander-Arnold register a sublime assist.

With the 27-year old and Jude Bellingham already at the club, that should in theory make it easier for him to settle in the capital. He also played with Dean Huijsen at Bournemouth during the 24/25 season.

In Bournemouth's penultimate game before the international break, they played away to Real Sociedad in their first ever European game, in the UEFA Europa League, where Scott pulled off a superb assist for Rayan with an excellent, Kevin De Bruyne esque weighted cross to the back post. This is the sort of quality that Real Madrid would be getting, as well as an ability to control the tempo and do the hard yards out of possession.
