Real Madrid and England national team superstar attacking midfielder, Jude Bellingham, has been acknowledged and rewarded for his incredible display at the weekend in the UEFA Nations League.
On Saturday evening, Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham put in an incredible display for England as they defeated Croatia 7-0 away from home, scoring and providing three assists for his team mates in a resounding victory.
But that only tells half the story. Aside from this, the 23-year old also created eight chances and five big chances. He completed 2/2 crosses, 6/7 long balls and 4/6 dribbles, and had 108 touches of the ball in what was just simply an incredible display from an incredible football player.
Well, his efforts have not gone unnoticed by UEFA, who have officially awarded the Englishman with the 'Player of the Round' award for match day three of the Nations League.
Although there were some other excellent displays from other players, not least England team mates Anthony Gordon and Harry Kane, you have to say this recognition is deserved. He was just simply on another level to anybody else during match day three.
The game against Croatia was Bellingham's 59th cap for the England national team at just 23 years of age. Let's put that into perspective for just a moment. Kane, who is set to become England's joint record appearance maker tomorrow evening (125) only won his 59th cap in July 2021, weeks before his 28th birthday.
So, at his current trajectory, Bellingham should absolutely smash the England appearance record out of the window. That said, you have to always be careful regarding injuries, and we know that the former Borussia Dortmund man has played an unusual amount of games for someone still so young. So, he will need protecting and looking after by managers, physios etc.
England manager Thomas Tuchel has admitted it will be difficult for Bellingham to start two consecutive games, so we could see him get some rest tomorrow evening in the Three Lions' fourth and final game of the break at home to Czechia. This marries up with him coming off the bench in the reverse fixture last week. It would certainly be beneficial to Real Madrid if that is the case.
Should he play a part tomorrow, even off the bench, then he will have won his 60th cap already, which would just be another amazing achievement on a long list of them for club and country.
A very deserved award and recognition for an absolutely supreme footballer that Los Blancos are very, very fortunate to have.
