The young midfielder is yet to decide his future as Real Madrid push for his signing this summer.
Real Madrid has had a well-planned summer transfer window so far, making significant changes to their squad following the appointment of Jose Mourinho as their new manager.
However, there hasn't been much movement in Los Blancos' midfield this time around other than the arrival of Bernardo Silva following the exit of Dani Ceballos.
According to reports, the Whites were interested in signing Rodri from Manchester City this summer, but the World Cup winner unfortunately chose to join Barcelona instead.
As a result, Mourinho has already started chalking out plans for the new season with the current group of midfielders.
But according to a revealing update from La Liga side Racing Santander's sporting director Chema Aragon, Los Blancos are pushing for the transfer of one of their midfielders, Sergio Martinez.
Media outlet Bernabéu Digital quoted Aragon saying, "Real Madrid have gone all out to sign him, and he is now evaluating all the options,
"If we offer him a starting position, he will not leave."
The 19-year-old has already started twice for the recently promoted side and also scored his first goal in La Liga against Villarreal during Santander's opening game of the season.
Barcelona are also reportedly monitoring Martinez's current situation alongside Villarreal, but as claimed by Santander's sporting director himself, the Whites are certainly the favourites to sign the teenage sensation if he decides to move this summer.
The Merengues have been keeping tabs on the midfielder since January and are seemingly satisfied with his gradual rise to first-team football leading to this transfer window.
If the youngster decides to join the Whites this summer, he is unlikely to get the game time which he is almost certain to get at Santander, but the opportunity to train alongside some of the best in business could have a positive impact on his career going forward.
As for Los Blancos, Martinez has a quite similar profile compared to Eduardo Camavinga, who is reluctant to stay at the club and fight for his position under Mourinho this season.
But Madrid's late move for Martinez might put a question mark on Camavinga's imminent future, as the club management will most likely want to free up more space in the squad before making any further additions.
Reportedly, the 19-year-old midfielder has a release clause of €3 million in his contract, which also provides the Whites with an opportunity to make a significant profit out of any future transfer out of the club, a strategy which the Spanish giants have applied extensively over the recent transfer window.
