According to reports from the Spanish media, this is what Real Madrid are planning to do to their midfield this summer transfer window ahead of 26/27
This summer transfer window promises to be a very exciting one for Real Madrid.
There have already been a number of signings made in the defence with Marc Cucurella, Ibrahima Konate, and Denzel Dumfries, as well as Bernardo Silva for the midfield.
Despite the signing of the Portuguese international, there is still an expectation that Los Blancos will do more work on their midfield this summer. It has not been the same since Toni Kroos left, and that was only further encapsulated after the departure of Luka Modric last summer too.
So, what are the plans in that area of the pitch this summer? Let's take a look at what Spanish media outlet Diario AS are saying.
To begin, they say the plan is to build the midfield around Jude Bellingham. That is an encouraging start to their report. The last time that was the case was the Englishman's first season at the club, where Real Madrid won both La Liga and the UEFA Champions League, and he was at the very top of his game.
Meanwhile, they say that the idea is to keep Federico Valverde. That is an interesting on because there have been murmurs regarding an exit of late. Coincidentally, or otherwise, they say that the club will look to sell one of Aurelien Tchouameni or Eduardo Camavinga. Do we yet know if Valverde and Tchouameni can be in the same dressing room?
Finally, it is said that they will try to sign one of; Enzo Fernandez (Chelsea), Ayyoub Bouaddi (Lille), or Mateus Fernandes (West Ham United).
So, there we have it. That is, according to Diario AS, the midfield plan for this summer. Let's see what happens. In fairness, signing one of those aforementioned three players alongside Silva would be beneficial.
The last year or two have seriously seen Real Madrid struggle to control games in the midfield. Someone to put their foot on the ball and set the tempo. We know that Silva is that type of player, and so are those three names listed.
At Chelsea, Fernandez has played more of a box crashing role, but he is at his best controlling in a deeper role. Plus, at Real Madrid, there is already Bellingham to do that. Having the Argentine international in a deeper role will help get the ball to Bellingham and the forwards in dangerous areas.
An interesting report. Let's see.
