A Real Madrid legend believes Mourinho is no longer at his best moment to return to the white bench. He prefers other coaches over him.

The betting pools never stop spinning. With nothing left to fight for in April, Madrid is going to close another blank season in a row, and the names to replace Arbeloa on the Madrid bench are dominating the news.

Jose Mourinho is one of the options on the table right now. Jose Maria Gutierrez, 'Guti', was asked last night about a second stint for Mou at the Bernabeu while commenting on Madrid's draw at La Cartuja.

'Mourinho is a great coach without a doubt, but I think his 'prime' stage is not now, in the sense that he comes from Fenerbahce, he took over Benfica at a very bad moment of their history, and I think there are coaches in a better state than Mou or that I would sign,' he pointed out calmly.

For his part, Mourinho has left the door open to a possible return to Real Madrid. In recent statements in Lisbon, when asked about his future, he recalled that both he and Benfica have a 10-day window after the end of the season to sit down and negotiate peacefully.

Mourinho's time at Real Madrid was intense from start to finish and marked by a historic rivalry. He arrived in 2010 and, in three seasons, won one League, one Copa del Rey, and one Spanish Super Cup. But his biggest mark was the rivalry with Guardiola's Barcelona by far.

He broke the dominance of the Blaugrana with a record 100 points in La Liga and 121 goals. However, his final year was complicated by a divided locker room and clashes with players like Ramos and Casillas on several occasions.

He left in 2013, but no one forgot his character or his fire. That character, that 'us against the world' mentality, turned Madrid into a winning machine again after years of European disappointment and frustration.

He ended Barca's reign, taught the team to compete with hate and fire, and gave the club back its pride little by little. His press conferences were a show, his tactics a war manual.

Even today, many Madrid fans remember that 2011/12 season as one of the most exciting they have ever lived. The Special One left a mark that time has not erased, not even a little bit."
