Well, it certainly feels like the club - namely president Florentino Perez - have finally woken up regarding Rodri. The signing has always been a no brainer, particularly with the player keen to join. Let's see if they get it done.
With just 12 months on his contract at the Etihad, it feels like a deal should be financially doable for the club, with City only having so much power in the situation, so it feels like there is no excuse for this signing not to be made.
Elsewhere, journalist Ramon Alvarez is reporting that Premier League side Liverpool are "seriously interested" in signing Vinicius as a free agent next summer. Although talks are scheduled between Los Blancos and Vinicius at the end of the month (when he is back from holiday), until that new contract is signed, there will be plenty of angst from the fanbase over losing him for free. Quite similar to Rodri in that case, ironically enough.
Meanwhile, BBC Sport are reporting that Fulham have pulled out of the potential deal to sign Gonzalo Garcia, because Jose Mourinho wants to keep him. It sounded like Alvaro Arbeloa was keen on a reunion with the player he had worked with in both Castilla and the first team, but it looks like Mourinho wants to keep him.
Let's hope there is a plan in mind for him. There is no point keeping him around just for pity minutes. At 22, he is not super young either, he needs to play. Going to play for Arbeloa and with the exposure of the Premier League would surely have done him no harm. Let's see what Mourinho has in mind for him.
