After what has already been an incredibly busy start to the summer transfer window, here is your latest update from today, Thursday, the 18th of June
Although we are all focused on the FIFA World Cup, especially when Jude Bellingham stars for England, there is still lots of work being done in the transfer window by Real Madrid.
The club have already officially announced the signings of; Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konate, Marc Cucurella and Bernardo Silva. There will also be the return of forward Endrick after his very productive loan spell at Lyon in Ligue 1.
So, how about a transfer update and round up whilst we wait for the second round of World Cup games to start?
Let’s begin with incoming talk. Diario AS are reporting that Real Madrid have the following shortlist for their midfield; Enzo Fernandez (Chelsea), Mateus Fernandes (West Ham United), and Ayyoub Bouaddi (Lille).
However, journalist Rodra states that, whilst the club love Bouaddi and are monitoring him, European Champions PSG are “leading the race” for his signing, so that one may be a particularly difficult deal to pull off.
Furthermore, Diario AS are also stating that the club have the following shortlist for central defence; Nico Schlotterbeck (Borussia Dortmund), Alessandro Bastoni (Inter Milan), and Ruben Dias (Manchester City. We saw reports this week from ESPN Brazil and The Athletic re Dias.
Elsewhere, Jose Felix Diaz says that PSG want Eduardo Camavinga, but the player himself wants to stay. Ramon Alvarez states that there are “important people” at Real Madrid who still have faith in the Frenchman.
Back to Diaz for a moment, he has said that Los Blancos will have a buy back option for Victor Munoz next summer. The youngster looked to be moving to Newcastle United, but is now off to Liverpool, and the Reds have included it as a gesture to Real Madrid, as they could have used their right of refusal on this deal.
Some interesting updates in there no doubt. It feels like the talk around Fernandez will not go away. The talk began well before the transfer window, all the way back in March, even perhaps before then.
In terms of the central defenders, Schlotterbeck feels like the best fit. It's important that the club bring in someone capable as a ball player. Bastoni fits that bill too, but is largely untested playing in a back four. So, with Dias not the best on the ball - it is clear the German international would be most suited out of the three.
