Real Madrid sold Nico Paz to Como in June but included an active buyback clause for July 2027. Now Paz is shining as a bona fide star and took MVP honors in Como's win over Manchester United.

Former Real Madrid player Nico Paz had a phenomenal Wednesday night. At just 22 years old, he had a great match that led to him being named the MVP of the game in Como's win over Manchester United. The midfielder, who ceased to be owned by Real Madrid last June 26, took charge of scoring two goals and giving one assist. A performance that led him to receive praise from friends and strangers.

For his part, Paz told TNT Sports that it was one of the most special nights of his life, despite his young age. "It is one of the most special nights of my life and my career, for me and for the club. I am still young, but I will never forget it. It was a historic night because we played against one of the best clubs of all time, and doing this at home is incredible. We are very happy with our performance."

In addition, he acknowledged that his great performances are thanks to the great players around him. "I felt very good on the field. I enjoyed this match a lot. I am surrounded by incredible teammates, and that allows me to play my way.

I am very happy to play for this team, also because of the coaching staff, who give me a lot of confidence. We have to enjoy every match like we did today. We have to try to repeat this performance. This is historic; it is the first time we are in the Champions League, and we have to enjoy it," he added.

Finally, the Tenerife-born player was asked about the photo of Lionel Messi with his son, Ciro Messi, who was wearing a Como jersey. "It is an honor that the son of the best player in history wears our shirt. That shows we are doing things right. I believe we have become, and are becoming, a great team, much better than three years ago. Every day we are improving a lot. Seeing Messi's son with our team's shirt is a pleasure and an honor," he concluded.

Nico Paz was born in Tenerife, but decided to represent the Argentina national team. His father, Pablo Paz, commented at the time that Nico never had to decide between one national team or the other, since Spain never called him. It was then that he took the opportunity to train with Argentina's Under-20 team, a training session he shared with Messi, something he liked a lot.

Como paid €60 million to Real Madrid to acquire the player's rights. However, a clause was left open in which the merengue team can buy Paz for €80 million. Said clause can only be carried out in July 2027, so the question remains. If Nico keeps having these performances with the Italian team, being practically its biggest star and competing seriously in Italy and the Champions League, will Madrid buy him?
