On day six of this summer's FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, here is your latest update on how things went for Real Madrid players
Although Real Madrid fans are excited on what is already looking like a promising summer transfer window, there is a natural tendency to be focused on this summer's FIFA World Cup in North America.
Especially when there are Los Blancos stars in action, as there were on Tuesday. Let's take a look at how things went.
At 21:00 CET, perhaps the second most anticipated game of round one - after Brazil vs Morocco on Saturday night - was upon us, as Ibrahima Konate, Aurelien Tchouameni and Kylian Mbappe's France took on Senegal in Group I.
Although Konate was left out of the starting XI by manager Didier Deschamps, with William Saliba and Dayot Upamecano preferred, but Tchouameni and Mbappe were named in the side, with the latter once again leading the line as the skipper.
The first half was a very disappointing one from the French. Although it was 0-0 at half time, it was much more through luck than design that Senegal weren't a couple of goals to the good.
However, despite no changes at the break, France were a different beast second half. After 57 minutes, Mbappe was played through on goal by Michael Olise, but could not convert.
Them, just nine minutes later, Olise was again played the Real Madrid forward through, this time with a slide rule pass at an angle, and Mbappe finished across goal with a superb finish to equal Olivier Giroud's record as France's all time top goalscorer.
With eight minutes left, France made it 2-0, as the points looked safe. However, Senegal got one back with three minutes of stoppage time remaining to make things interesting.
But within 60 seconds, their hopes of a draw were crushed, as Mbappe got his second goal of the game with a ridiculous lob from miles out, to make sure of the win and cement his status as France's outright all time record goalscorer, with 58 goals.
This brace means that he is now also France's all time top goalscorer at World Cups, and he is just two goals shy of Miroslav Klose's record in the competition. Quite incredible for someone who is still just 27 years of age.
Meanwhile, Tchouameni also played the full 90, whilst Konate was an unused sub. Next up for France is a clash with Iraq on Monday at 23:00. It feels like Mbappe could break Klose's record in that game alone, but let's see.
