According to reports on Tuesday afternoon (The 4th of August 2026) Real Madrid first team player, Franco Mastantuno, appears to have found a new side.
Last summer, Real Madrid completed the signing of highly thought of River Plate teenager Franco Mastantuono for a reported fee of 45 million Euros.
There was plenty of excitement and anticipation around his arrival, with it being seen as impressive that he had featured 63 times for the River Plate first team despite joining Los Blancos on his 18th birthday. In theory, you must have something about you to play so many games at such a young age.
To be fair to Mastantuono, he probably does have something about him. But unfortunately, he has not been able to show that during his time at the club, for whatever reason. Last season, he played just 1510 minutes across all competitions, the equivalent of around 16.7 full 90's worth of football. Just not enough really.
That is not to say he deserved to play more, because when he did play he was far from his best. But sadly that is the reality of the situation, he needs to play more in order to develop optimally. Real Madrid simply cannot afford him that luxury.
A loan side could, however, and it just as well. Indeed so, as it being reported by Spanish media outlet MARCA that the Argentine international has agreed to join Serie A side Fiorentina on loan.
Over the past week or so, there had been numerous reports linking him with a move to Italy, with the likes of AS Roma, AC Milan and indeed Fiorentina themselves mentioned. Funnily enough, Mastantuono was actually born into an Italian-Argentine family, in Buenos Aires, so this is quite a full circle moment for him.
There will be lots of anticipation over this move, no doubt about that. We saw how productive a loan spell at Ligue 1 side Lyon was for Endrick last season, so there will be some hope that the former River Plate man can try and at least somewhat replicate that form.
As well as the Argentinian Nicolas Valentini, there are a few Spanish players in the Fiorentina side, which should help the youngster to settle, including former La Fabrica player Victor Valdepenas.
Fiorentina begin their Serie A campaign against Roma on the 24th of August at 20:45 CEST. In recent days, Endrick has been linked with a move to the club from the capital, perhaps we could see a Real Madrid showdown of sorts in that game. Let's wait and see.
