In an interview following the Roma vs. Real Madrid match, Jose Mourinho did not hold back and once again brought up the Negreira case, noting that Italy did the right thing with Juventus at the time, but Spain does not appear willing to punish Barcelona.
It only took Jose Mourinho two months to position himself as Real Madrid's spokesman. Just as Carlo Ancelotti was during his second spell, the same one in which the Negreira Case was brought to light. Xabi Alonso and Alvaro Arbeloa did not fit that role, so it had to be the Portuguese who took on that role again, something he did during 2010 and 2013. A spell in which he complained about being the club's only voice.
Several weeks after the Portuguese returned, he had given mild words, not very aggressive comments or, at most, very hidden messages. After the Madrid derby, this facet changed; his comments began to gain more force, such as the fact that the referee assigned to that match was known a week before, instead of 24 hours prior to the match, as stipulated.
Exploding with what happened a few hours before the Roma-Madrid Champions League match began. The suspension Vinicius Jr. would receive after his actions last Saturday against Villarreal, where he pulled Nathan Saliba's hair, was announced as a total of four matches in which the Brazilian will not be able to see action, as well as LaLiga's decision to schedule the merengues' matchday 12 game against Valencia on Saturday, Nov. 7.
Remembering that on Wednesday, Nov. 4, they travel to Athens to play matchday 4 of the Champions League, and removing the time it will take them to return to Spain, they will have at most two days to prepare for the match. They are faced with the accumulation of all this, as Mourinho said in the post-match press conference: "Madridismo is not stupid, and I am going to speak so that the things that happen can be seen."
It is expected that Madridismo will be in tune with the club and with Mourinho himself and that this Sunday, when they face Sevilla, they will show their discontent over the decisions the Federation, LaLiga and the referees' committee are making with them. A match of utmost importance for Madrid, which on Oct. 25 visits the Camp Nou for a new edition of the Clasico. The Whites start as victims against the blaugranas, but inside the field anything can happen.
Returning with 'Mou,' he finished his words in Rome with a clear message about the Negreira case, making it clear that Barcelona deserves to be punished. "I will tell you only one thing: congratulations to the Italians. Do you know why? Because it is the only country where 'Calciopoli' has been 'Calciopoli.'
Because in Spain, what has happened, and everyone knows what has happened, and it seems that things still are not breathing very well. Until now, nothing has happened. Nothing has happened. If nothing happens, it is perhaps the biggest refereeing corruption scandal in the world."
