Only two weeks after Jose Mourinho's interview in which he asked Real Madrid players to "not betray him" by doing personal activities such as hiking or cycling, Kylian Mbappe posted a video on social media doing exactly that: riding a bicycle.
Kylian Mbappe's recent video has gone viral in a short time. In it, the Frenchman is shown riding a bicycle while he is in the recovery process after suffering a slight injury to his left knee. However, what drew attention is that just a couple of weeks ago, Jose Mourinho said something very interesting in a Bet It Drives Show interview.
"You are a footballer 24 hours a day. What you eat, what you drink, how you sleep, even things from your private life. You cannot ski. You cannot ride a bicycle. You fall off the bike, and you miss three matches, or worse yet, you break a leg..." This is part of a scenario in which the Portuguese asks his players to "not betray him," asking that they maintain a healthy and healthful life at all times.
It draws quite a bit of attention that, assuming several players — including Mbappe — heard or at least found out about his words, the Frenchman decides to upload a video to his social media of himself riding a bicycle. It is interesting because journalist David Sanchez said it last Friday... "He is very clumsy."
"Mbappe is a spectacular player. He is, without a doubt, one of the two best in the world, but he is very clumsy. He is the only player who knows how to hit the key every week on how and in what way to anger his fanbase. In this case, Real Madrid's," were the specific words he used. Now it makes all the sense in the world, uploading a video to your social media doing a specific activity that your coach asked his players not to do because of the risk it entails... Impressive.
It is worth noting that the words the journalist dedicated to Mbappe were not for this particular situation, but for the footballer's decision to be in Paris with his girlfriend, visiting restaurants instead of returning to Valdebebas to complete his recovery as he should. A decision that, clearly, made criticism rain down on the Frenchman again for whatever decision-making he has lately.
It is concerning that the relationship between the players and the fanbase — or, in this case, the coach — seems not to be on the best terms. Mbappe's constant decisions- first with the Ceuta support shirts, the video explaining why he did what he did with said shirt, preferring to go out to restaurants with his girlfriend when he is supposed to be resting, and now doing the opposite of what Mourinho said two weeks ago- one no longer knows what to think. We will see how the fanbase receives the team at the Bernabeu on Oct. 10.
