According to surprise reports out of the British media, Real Madrid's mystery target for this summer is a superstar from German giants on Bayern Munich

On Thursday evening, Real Madrid president Florentino Perez caused many talking points and debate when he revealed that next Tuesday, the 9th of June 2026, the club would make a 150 million Euros bid for a superstar player.

He said that the player did not play in the Premier League, is young, and plays for a club in the UEFA Champions League, adding that the player is a midfielder or a forward. Hard to know if he meant it'll be a player in one of those two positions, or someone who plays in both positions.

Meanwhile, he stated that the player is not Michael Olise, Harry Kane nor Jeremy Doku. However, reports today suggest otherwise.

Indeed, as Jason Burt of English media outlet The Telegraph is reporting that, despite the denial from Perez, the player he was referring to is indeed Bayern Munich's Olise.

This marries up with reporting from Spanish journalist Jose Felix Diaz on Thursday night, who stated that Perez sees the Frenchman as a "game changer", and that his signing "is not ruled out".

Well, you have to admire the ambition. However, it is almost certainly going to take a hell of a lot more than 150 million Euros to sign Olise. This is one of the very best players in the world, who has been absolutely incredible at Bayern, and was also extremely good when playing for Crystal Palace in the Premier League.

With three years remaining on his contract in the South of Germany, there is no need for Bayern to sell just yet. Next summer will be a different topic, if he has not extended by then, as he enters the final two years of his deal. He is still on the five year contract he signed when joining the club in the summer of 2024.

That all said, just imagine a world where a deal can be done. It would instantly make Los Blancos favourites in both La Liga and the Champions League. A right-winger has clearly been needed for a while now, so to sign Olise would be insane. He is also the perfect profile for two outlets in Vinicius and Kylian Mbappe, and has played with the latter for the national team.

Let's see what happens. It is clear that whatever happens, Perez and the club know another season like the last two campaigns simply cannot be allowed to happen again.
