The Real Madrid defender seemingly criticized the manager's decision to bench him and also forced another key player to make changes in his routine.
Discipline has been the bedrock of success at Real Madrid, and every player and manager who's been at the club since its inception has made sure not to cross any lines that would disrupt the club's decorum.
Of course, there have been instances of arguments between players and managers alike during some of the most heated games in their history, but the club has made sure to resolve those issues before leaving the ground.
Although it seems that tradition has now been broken by one of Los Blancos' academy players, as reports from MARCA suggest that Raul Asencio had a heated argument with his manager at the club, Alvaro Arbeloa.
According to the report, the Spanish defender was upset by the manager's decision to bench him against Manchester City, to which he reportedly criticized Arbeloa and then went on to create a mess during their game against Elche in La Liga.
Arbeloa reportedly planned to start the rebellious defender against Elche, but Asencio reported minor muscle discomfort, which upset the Los Blancos manager and also Antonio Rudiger, who had planned to take the day off but had to make last-minute changes to his schedule, which infuriated the German defender.
Arbeloa quite naturally wanted Asencio to apologize in front of the whole squad for his wrongdoings over the span of these two matches, but the 23-year-old didn't feel it necessary to apologize to the whole group; however, the gaffer seemed reluctant to make Asencio feel sorry for his actions.
Finally, after the international break, Asencio decided to put his ego aside, apologized in front of the whole squad, and put an end to the ongoing rift, as Arbeloa brought him back into the squad after keeping him out of the games against City, Elche, and Atletico Madrid.
Now that Eder Militao is back in the squad, Asencio has been pushed further down the pecking order, as he is now the fourth-choice center-back at Los Blancos behind Dean Huijsen, Rudiger, and Militao.
Only the best of the best get to don the Royal White shirt, and once they do, they make sure to carry on the weight of the shirt previously donned by the best players in history.
Arbeloa's decision to discipline Asencio should stand as an example to the whole squad, which clearly conveyed the message that no one is bigger than the club at Los Blancos.
