According to reports out of Spain on Monday (the third of August, 2026), these are "some of" the contract requests made by Real Madrid forward Vinicius Jr.
Today, Monday the 3rd of August, Vinicius Jr returned to Real Madrid City after his nearly month long holiday after Brazil were knocked out of the FIFA World Cup in the round of 16 by European side Norway.
Everyone returns to training at some point after their post tournament break, that part isn't the significant part. What is important is that it has been widely reported in the media that he would begin contract talks with the club today, with just 10 months remaining on his current deal, and reported interest from Premier League side Arsenal.
Generally, there has not been loads of news on that today either way. Nothing of too much importance. Which is normal. It is just his first day back, it would have been surprising if something was decided or close to decided either way, especially when he would have spent a lot of the day doing medical tests, physical preparation, and so and so forth.
However, there has been an interesting report from Spanish and Madrid based outlet, Diario AS. They have reported some of the requests made by Vinicius regarding his potential new contract.
They state that the 26-year old is requesting: 20 million Euros net per season, an image rights percentage similar to Kylian Mbappe has (which is nearly 100%), and a renewal bonus.
What is worth mentioning there is that Diario AS said "some of" the requests. So that is not all of what he is requesting, based on that particular wording. Blimey, you'd have thought that would be more than enough.
Interestingly, this morning at around 10:39 CEST, Spain based journalist Pepe Alvarez gave an update on the situation, saying "The economic differences (between what Real Madrid are offering, and what the player wants) remain large." If there is any truth to that, a big concern.
It is fortunate that the season starts later this year because of the World Cup, particularly for Real Madrid who have managed to get their first game postponed, meaning there is still just under four weeks until things begin, which hopefully will give enough time for this to be resolved either way, because it is really ugly at this point, it has to be said.
Those demands look huge, especially with them just being part of his requests. Imagine the full package, it may be too much even for a club like Los Blancos. Let's see. Stay tuned here at Roundtable for updates on the situation.
