After weeks of turbulence in Real Madrid's locker room, Thibaut Courtois emerges as the team's potential savior both on the pitch and behind the scenes.
Thibaut Courtois has been out for two months since his injury that kept him off the pitch, but everything seems to indicate that he is already physically fine and even that he will be a starter this Sunday when they face FC Barcelona in the new edition of El Clasico. Something that pleases many, not only because of the security the Belgian provides under goal, but because of his weight in the locker room as one of the institution’s legends.
All Madridistas wish that the civil war that seems to exist in the club’s locker room would stop already. An institution like Real Madrid cannot afford such immature attitudes, and this is where Courtois would come in, as the most suitable person to calm the waters when anyone gets heated or becomes disrespectful.
It is clear that the problems the club faces have been brewing for quite some time, but it must also be recognized that since the Belgian suffered the injury, which kept him away from both the goal and training, Real Madrid fell into a tailspin, they ceded first place in the league to Barcelona, they were eliminated from the Champions League, rivalries in the locker room increased, something that eventually exploded and ended up leaving the disaster that currently exists.
Some of the biggest conflicts during Courtois’ absence were the coach’s snub of Carvajal for no apparent reason. From one moment to the next, it seemed that Dani no longer fit into Arbeloa’s plans, who did not even put him in as a substitute in league matches.
Alvaro Carreras, who also apparently had problems with the coach, showed a mocking smile upon noticing that Fran Garcia had now become the second left back. It is not known whether it was due to this issue, but Antonio Rudiger hit Carreras during a training session.
While all this was happening, Kylian Mbappe decided to take advantage of his injury to go on a short vacation in Italy with his girlfriend, Ester Exposito, which upset both fans and teammates at the club.
And lastly, but not least, is the altercation between Fede Valverde and Aurelien Tchouameni, a fight that ended with the Uruguayan on the ground, with his head split open, and subsequently taken to the hospital. The club sanctioned both players with an exorbitant amount; €500,000 each will have to pay.
Now, Real Madrid has the obligation to go to Camp Nou and win, in this way, extend Barcelona’s celebration by one more week and, who knows, begin a possible comeback. We will see.
