Thibaut Courtois Urges Patience With Vinicius Jr. at Real Madrid

Thibaut Courtois, who had a great performance once again against RB Leipzig, attended the mixed zone at the Bernabeu after the match in which they defeated the German team 4-1. The Belgian analyzed the state the team is in ahead of, possibly, the most important match in this first half of the season against Barcelona at the Camp Nou next Sunday.

"In the end, I believe we have played good matches, good victories, a good comeback in Rome, and in the end we are confident for what is coming, and we know it is going to be a tough match, but if we want to cut points in the league, we will have to go and win the match," began the goalkeeper who registered five saves this Wednesday.

Later, he was asked whether, in his opinion, Barcelona is the favorite for El Clasico. "In the end, you never know until you play the match there. I believe we are fine, we are confident, and in the end, in the league they have been very good, but I trust in our team that we can go and win. It is indeed at their home; it is a different match when you go as a visitor, but I trust in our team and for me the Clasicos, although sometimes one team arrives better than another, for me are always 50-50," he said.

Finally, just like his coach and several teammates, he spoke about Vinicius Jr.'s current situation, since the Brazilian still cannot score, accumulating nine consecutive matches with Real Madrid without being able to do so. Courtois mentioned: "No, I believe he is in search of his best version, and I am sure it will come with the support of the team and the fanbase. I believe he has had a good match; I have seen him with actions, with danger, and in the end, things do not always work out.

A player who is at his best level every season, now that I only know two, which are Cristiano and Messi, whom I have seen almost every year at their best level, and even so, they have been criticized at various moments, two of the greatest in history. In the end, it is football. I believe Vinicius is someone who has been playing almost everything for nine years, and that is why we have to help him find that best version, but he is the first one who is training, happy, content, and looking for his best version."

In this way, the goalkeeper joins Jose Mourinho, Kylian Mbappe, and his other teammates in supporting Vinicius who, it is true, is far from that Vini who carried the team on his shoulders to win the 2022 and 2024 Champions Leagues, but for that very reason, for what he has already given to the club, is why he deserves to receive all the respect, support and patience, something the fanbase should also know and do.
