Club Tijuana's young prospect Gilberto Mora has caught the attention of Real Madrid and other top clubs after Manchester United withdrew its interest.
The Club Tijuana central midfielder, Gilberto Mora, is in the media spotlight after his incredible performance at the 2026 World Cup and is apparently also in the orbit of Real Madrid.
At just 17 years old, Mora stands out mainly for the leadership he has shown on the field in his debut for the Mexican national team, although his greatness predates that, as his skills are already notable with the Xolos of Tijuana.
One of the teams that has shown the most interest in the Mexican is Premier League giant Manchester United, which has been keeping tabs on him.
However, after Mora's recent performance in Mexico's match against Ecuador (2-0), where the young prospect was among the most outstanding, new rumors point to other clubs that have turned their attention to him.
According to a report by the Daily Mirror, Real Madrid, FC Barcelona, Chelsea FC, and Manchester City have sparked growing interest in Gilberto Mora.
Although Manchester United was the first to notice the quality of the player the young Mexican is, according to the outlet, the club's co-owner, Jim Ratcliffe, has no interest in fighting for the central midfielder's services, which makes him more easily available to any other interested team.
If the interest from the Merengue club in the youngster is true, the most likely scenario is that he would not be a starter but rather a player who can continue developing and working on his already good qualities.
Despite not being the fastest physically, he knows how to play faster than his teammates, as seen in his last participation with the Mexican team, where for most of the match, everyone revolved around him.
International media have not lagged in praising him either, and they have nicknamed him 'The Mexican Pedri' for his aptitudes very similar to those of the Barcelona player.
In the 2025/2026 season, Gilberto Mora stood out with Club Tijuana, scoring 6 goals and 1 assist, and within his club, it has been said that he has always maintained a mature spirit and leadership, which have helped him polish his skills.
Mora is already a prospect in Mexican soccer, and although he just renewed his contract with his club, a release clause was also included, which would be ideal for him if he wants to transfer to a club in Europe.
The biggest difficulty for Gilberto would be the different pace of play between the Mexican league and La Liga, but this, rather than being seen as an obstacle, could open the doors for him to improve his endurance and have much more value in the future, especially now that his career is just beginning.
