As negotiations for a €120m transfer intensify, Yan Diomande undergoes managed training in Germany to avoid injury risks ahead of a high-stakes move to Real Madrid.
Yan Diomande rejoined RB Leipzig training today ahead of the new season as Real Madrid continue to search for an agreement with the German side.
According to an update by Sky Sports DE reporter Philipp Hinze, Yan Diomande returned to train with his club RB Leipzig this morning after agreeing on personal terms with Real Madrid for a potential transfer in the coming days.
Die Roten Bullen are locked in negotiations with Real Madrid for quite some time now, as the Ivorian international trained on a managed workload to avoid risking any injuries. "Negotiations between Leipzig and Real Madrid resumed today and are ongoing," as per Florian Plettenberg.
An agreement is yet to be found between the two sides on transfer fees as Leipzig are holding out on a package worth €120 million, including "easily achievable add-ons" and a significant upfront payment. It is believed that Los Blancos have improved from their previous rejected offer of €100 million, but RB Leipzig are still not appeased.
Real Madrid's new head coach, Jose Mourinho, has talked with the player after getting the green light from him to move forward with transfer proceedings. He is expected to solve the club's right wing problem, a position where nobody has made a mark in recent years, or at least ever since Gareth Bale dropped in form. Rodrygo has been a clear contender for the place, but his ongoing ACL injury has changed a lot of things about his future at the club.
Diomande is set to train regularly for Leipzig for now until the Bundesliga side reaches a deal with Real Madrid. However, he will be subjected to a lighter workload than his teammates, as any kind of knock at this stage could derail the entire talks and could potentially lead to Leipzig missing out on a massive profit.
The 19-year-old reportedly had agreed on personal terms with Paris Saint-Germain, but his entourage changed their stance when Los Merengues joined the race in a major transfer hijack. PSG left the race officially as soon as they found Diomande backing out of their deal, and they also looked reluctant to pay a €120 million transfer fee for him.
Elsewhere, Real Madrid legend and Champions League three-peat coach Zinedine Zidane has joined the French National Team as their manager until 2030. Zidane is set to lead France to the Euro 2028 in UK, and then look forward to a World Cup campaign in Spain, Portugal and Morocco.
