Florentino Perez is reportedly eyeing Zinedine Zidane's return amidst uncertainty. A familiar, experienced savior could bridge Real Madrid's transition.
Real Madrid president Florentino Perez has not forgotten about Zinedine Zidane as a possible coach for next season, according to reports.
There are solid reasons to consider him, even as his future seems to be pointing toward becoming France's next national team manager.
Zidane has a strong relationship with Florentino and the club's hierarchy, something that could help reach an agreement. Although they know it is complicated, as it does not depend on Real Madrid alone. What happens with the France national team could end up being key to resolving his future.
Zidane's arrival at Real Madrid would mean having a coach who needs no adaptation. He knows the club, a large part of the squad, and can deliver results immediately. He already did so in his previous two stints in charge of the white side.
According to the Spanish outlet Defensa Central, Zidane is an emergency solution Real Madrid is considering, and it would not carry as many risks as other coaches would. With him, the transition that the Merengues appear to need could be carried out. Furthermore, he could make structural decisions that will not be easy, but that need to be made.
It would not be the first time a coach returned to Real Madrid for a second spell. Capello did it in his day, and more recently Zidane himself, both with very good results. But the most recent example is Ancelotti, who signed a legendary few years at the white club.
Zidane would be embarking on a third spell, hoping to continue the good run of coaches returning to Real Madrid. In his favor, he is a good dressing room manager and has already had stars like Cristiano Ronaldo under his command. In a moment of uncertainty, the Frenchman seems like a familiar option that appeals to Florentino.
Real Madrid has not yet made any decision regarding the bench for next season. They are weighing different alternatives if Arbeloa ultimately does not remain in the role. It will therefore be later down the line when they take that step -- although they want to be prepared.
