In a recent interview, Nico Paz was cautious when asked about a possible move to Real Madrid, saying he is focused on Como for now.
Nico Paz, 21, is one of the players most mentioned in connection with a return to Real Madrid this coming summer. The midfielder left the White club in 2024 for Como, and now Madrid can bring him back for €9 million. His name is on the table, although for now, he is focused on Italy.
In an interview with Sport Mediaset, Nico spoke about his possible return to Real Madrid and made clear what his thinking is today. “I don’t want to think about those things. I am 100% concentrated here, at Como.
I want to give everything on the field. Then, if the opportunity arises in the future, we will see,” said the young Argentine international. He also looked back to remember the goal he scored against Napoli at the Bernabeu in the Champions League, wearing the White shirt.
“It was pure happiness, I was a ‘kid,’ I think about my second game with the first team. Scoring in the Champions League against a team like Napoli, with the monsters who played at Madrid, at a stadium like the Bernabeu... when I scored, everyone shouted and chanted my name, it was an incredible feeling,” he confessed.
Paz was also linked with Inter, but there he left no room for doubt. “No, there has been nothing,” explained the midfielder, who also reviewed his evolution since arriving at Como. “I think I have matured in every aspect. I arrived here from Real Madrid Castilla, having never played for a first team.
Last season was my first in Serie A, and now I feel much more mature, more prepared to play at this level. It’s a good league, and I think about improving every day to keep growing,” he stated.
The Argentine praised the season Como is having. “We are having a good season, honestly, we didn’t expect it to be this good, but the incredible work we have done is paying off, and I think we deserve it,” he said, before focusing on the figure of Cesc Fabregas, his coach.
“Fabregas was the most important factor. He has a lot of faith in us. He’s a young coach, a person who lives for football, works hard, studies a lot, and allows me to play the way I want, which is fundamental.”
Paz also recalled his debut with the Argentina national team in October 2024 against Bolivia, a day that was rounded off with an assist to Messi. “It was a dream, I didn’t realize it, and I only realized it after the game. I was able to give Messi an assist, and for me it’s very special because my dad was also in the stadium watching the game.
Leo told me to work hard and be humble. I would steal his left leg...” he said, before opening another window with the same naturalness. “I have dreamed of the World Cup since I was a kid, since I watched the games on TV. For me, it would be incredible. I work every day to get there.”
