Real Madrid consider Manu Kone as a Rodri alternative, per reports. Mourinho endorses him and Roma want €60 million for the French midfielder.
Journalist Miguel Serrano has revealed that Jose Mourinho continues to insist on signing a midfielder amid links to Manchester City's Rodri. The pundit said that the club also shares that need, although there is still no option that fully convinces the club's top brass.
In one of his latest videos, Serrano puts on the table the name of Manu Kone, a French international midfielder who plays for AS Roma: “A name has emerged on the list of midfielders, which is that of Manu Kone. He is a player that Real Madrid knows, but he has never been a preferred option,” he began by saying.
However, the journalist reveals that the situation with this player has changed: “Given the difficulty of signing a midfielder and the price that is being paid for some of them, there are people at the club who believe he could be a good option.”
In addition, despite the fact that he did not coincide with Jose Mourinho at the Italian club, Serrano points out that the Portuguese had endorsed the arrival of the Frenchman at his current team: “Mourinho did not coincide with him at Roma, but it is true that he had endorsed his signing. It is not an exclusive signing of his, but it did have his approval. Mourinho wants one more midfielder, and Koné would fit him perfectly,” he detailed.
The player’s contract situation does not suggest a bargain opportunity. His contract ends in 2029, so he has a long-term link with AS Roma. According to the commentator, the deal could be closed for around 60 million euros.
Kone, like Tchouameni, is represented by the agency Excellence Sport Nation (ESN), which may be a factor to consider. As Serrano mentions, Real Madrid’s relationship with this group is very good, and the top brass of the institution attaches great importance to this aspect: “They are not agents who mess people around or stretch the rope. At Real Madrid they value that enormously and it is a clear advantage for Koné,” he said.
Those who followed the World Cup will know that this player began to stand out when the aforementioned Tchouameni was injured. However, both of them can play together in that double pivot that Mourinho wants to implement: “He has gained credit with the World Cup he has had and also because Real Madrid does not see the bet for the midfield clearly,” the journalist concluded.
