Real Madrid faces stiff competition in its pursuit of Gilberto Mora in the winter market. The young standout turns 18 in October, making him eligible to be sold during the winter window, with clubs such as Liverpool, Barcelona, and Paris Saint-Germain all chasing the Mexican.
Real Madrid continues to show interest in the Mexican wonder boy, Gilberto Mora. The club keeps monitoring the current situation of the Xolos de Tijuana and the Mexican national team player. However, the possibility of his signing could become complicated because, according to Football Insider, Liverpool would be prepared to put £40 million on the table to acquire his services.
It is estimated that Tijuana will begin receiving offers of £30 million for Mora, which could easily turn into bids of around £40 million due to the numerous European teams circling the 17-year-old Mexican. In addition to the Merengues and the Reds, there are also clubs like Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain keeping an eye on the attacking midfielder.
Even some sources indicate that Liga MX itself would be included in these deals to seek to benefit from the departure of the young star. Without a doubt, Liverpool could be cataloged as one of the biggest admirers of the Mexican, who recently became the youngest player to score a goal with his country's senior national team. This was by being the one in charge of scoring the equalizing goal against Colombia, a match that ended 1-1.
In the post-match press conference, his coach, Rafael Marquez, mentioned that Mora has enough quality to play in elite football; however, he clarified that he is quite young, so he still has quite a way to go and is still learning to do so.
"He is very young; he has a very interesting future. He has the quality to play for any team. I hope that now that he turns 18, he can have a great opportunity and be on a good team. You have to try to keep calm, let him develop, and support him. He is a great talent, and with that type of player, you have to try to keep them calm. He has not achieved anything yet, so you have to take it calmly."
Mora has established himself as one of the biggest and most promising talents currently in football. After a great World Cup with Mexico, the biggest clubs in Europe instantly set their eyes on him. So negotiations are expected to be tough and quite competitive in the winter market. Whether he arrives at Madrid or not, let's hope the youngster can progress in an excellent way, whichever club he is at.
In the current Liga MX season, the young midfielder has played 499 minutes in total, scoring five goals and giving one assist, which keeps — temporarily — Tijuana in the playoff qualification zone.
