A World Cup champion and former Real Madrid player commented on which defender he would sign for the club, urging Florentino Perez to sign him immediately.

Oscar Ruggeri, world champion in 1986 and Real Madrid center back at the end of that decade of the 80s, a regular contributor to various media outlets, addressed all possible topics regarding the different figures who could be protagonists in the next great footballing event, but above all, he highlighted one who could affect the summer transfer market.

“If I were Florentino Perez, I would go for him, without a doubt. He is a great player. Serious for the position. He formed an incredible partnership with Otamendi,” said the former Argentine defender. The player he is referring to is none other than Cuti Romero.

However, although the Tottenham player has already acknowledged in the past how much he is seduced by the idea of playing in the Spanish league, the sirens’ songs would not have arrived, at least not textually, from the Real Madrid side.

Atletico Madrid, where the largest community of Argentines and players from the Albiceleste national team in Spain is located, has already taken steps to ensure that his path leads nowhere other than the Metropolitano.

And talking about Cuti also served Ruggeri to talk about the favoritism of Argentina, along with France and, of course, Spain, the main national teams he sees as World Cup favorites, without also forgetting Brazil, England, and Germany.

“We talk about the midfield and up almost always. We have an incredible defense and a goalkeeper. Against France, the one she saved... If it had been Mbappe, we would have been lost. We are quite good, and I dare say we are candidates because this national team has never stopped playing well. We did not play that well after the World Cup we won. It is a joy to watch them,” said Ruggeri.

Regarding two of the figures the World Cup will have, Messi and Lamine will be them without a doubt.“It is his last World Cup. He will prepare in the best way, and he will try to do what he already did in Qatar. It is another opportunity to lift the Cup.

I think the comparison with Maradona should not be made, because comparing two geniuses is very difficult. That said, if you ask me... I played 11 years with Maradona; ask someone who played with Messi, see what he tells you. They are both Argentines, let us enjoy it.”
