With the recent sale of Chema Andres to Brighton, Real Madrid pocketed 50% of the deal (€11.5 million), continuing the club's rising summer earnings from selling players produced at La Fabrica.
Jose Maria Andres Baixauli, known in football as Chema Andres, has just been signed by Brighton in the Premier League. He arrives from Stuttgart and, indirectly, brings in more earnings for Real Madrid, which has been receiving several million throughout this summer transfer window thanks to 'La Fabrica.'
The young Spaniard, developed at Valdebebas, left for Germany last summer to join Stuttgart, which paid €6 million for him, but the white team reserved 50% of his rights. That is why, with this new transaction, Brighton, which will pay €23 million, will see Real Madrid pocket €11.5 million without lifting a finger.
Now the German team will reserve a percentage of the player for a future sale, while Real Madrid has lost all control over the young Spaniard. Chema had a good debut season in the Bundesliga. At just 21 and 1.90 meters tall, he scored four goals and provided two assists, playing 39 games in all competitions for Die Schwaben.
The earnings obtained from Chema's transfer add to the €66 million that Como paid to keep Nico Paz in its ranks for next season. The €50 million that Fulham paid (with the help of recent Madrid coach Alvaro Arbeloa) for Gonzalo Garcia and Cesar Palacios. As well as the €10 million that Strasbourg paid to sign Jacobo Ortega.
These revenues help lighten the expenses the club has had during this summer transfer window, in which €228 million was disbursed in total. This includes players like Marc Cucurella (€55 million), who arrived with the status of a World Cup winner and, according to many fans, was "stolen" from Chelsea by paying only that amount for a full-back of his calibre.
Likewise, the club had to pay a total of €25 million to bring Jose Mourinho back. This figure includes both his release clause at Benfica as well as his agent's commission and initial signing bonuses. Whether it turns out to be a cheap or expensive move will depend on the results he can achieve.
But, without a doubt, the most controversial expense or investment (however you want to see it) was that of Yan Diomande, the Ivorian of just 19, who amazed everyone with his speed and dribbling ability while playing for RB Leipzig, arrived at Real Madrid for a figure close to €125 million, becoming the most expensive signing in the club's history and placing a weight on his shoulders related to his performance, although the player denies this.
