Real Madrid are pushing to complete a reported €60m move for Rodri amid claims the Manchester City midfielder has agreed terms until 2030.

Florentino Perez is ready to put down €60m on the table for Spanish midfielder Rodri, according to reports.

Transfer journalist Nicolo Schira claims the World Cup-winning midfielder has so far agreed personal terms with Real Madrid.

The contract is expected to run until 2030. Manchester City, on the other hand, faced a rejection when they offered Rodri a contract extension.

Schira previously reported an agreement in principle on July 23, with acceptance only being shared between the player and Los Blancos.

Madrid were ready to open talks with the Cityzens then, and the negotiations might still be underway at the moment.

Neither club has announced an agreement, further displaying the complicated state of the deal.

Sky Sports have further reported that Perez's side has already made first contact with the English giants.

They are expected to submit an offer between €50m and €60m, according to the British media outlet.

Rodri's current contract runs until the summer of 2027. The situation provides no leverage to Enzo Maresca's side, who are undergoing a revamp under the new manager.

Madrid will probably have a field day as Rodri himself has shown interest multiple times in returning to his birthplace.

City will have to make a decision this time around, as doing nothing will mean losing the midfielder for free next year.

Rodri previously played for Atletico Madrid while spending most of his career with the Colchoneros.

However, he moved to Valencia to continue his career with Villarreal while still in the academy.

The 2024 Ballon d'Or winner returned briefly to the Spanish capital before moving to the Isles in 2019.

Under Pep Guardiola, Rodri became one of the defining players in the Cityzens' most successful era.

He scored the winning goal in the 2023 Champions League final. The 30-year-old also helped his side win four consecutive Premier League titles.

Rodri became the first player from Manchester's blue side to win a Ballon d'Or in 2024. The Spaniard's stature reached further heights this summer after winning the World Cup with his country.

He also subsequently won the tournament's Golden Ball.  The midfielder will be a great addition to Madrid, with Perez looking forward to making statements following his election win.

However, much is yet to be done on the negotiations front. City aren't a club who are gonna let go of arguably their best player so easily. Nevertheless, they might have dug their own grave this time by delaying an extension.
