Florian Thauvin declared the title race over after a dramatic draw. Lens squandered crucial points, making PSG's victory virtually inevitable.

Despite the draw snatched at Brest (3-3) on Friday, the Racing Club of Lens has probably said goodbye to the Ligue 1 title. They have left too many points behind, especially since the announcement of the postponement of the clash against PSG.

Under other circumstances, the RC Lens might have celebrated this draw at Brest. It is not every day that you erase a three-goal deficit at halftime.

But the fact is, Florian Thauvin's teammates have left more points behind. This could prove costly in the battle with Paris Saint-Germain.

"I believe that tonight, the subject is now closed. There is no more title race, it's going to be complicated," the French international said after the match.

"With a team like Paris Saint-Germain, if you don't win every weekend, you are necessarily out of the race." Indeed, this draw at Brest was not the reason for the recent underperformance of the Sang et Or side.

Pierre Sage's men had already collapsed in the derby at Lille (3-0) on April 4, just after the announcement that the highly anticipated clash against the Parisians on March 26 had been postponed. For journalist Thomas Bonnavent, this timing raises questions.

"It would be interesting to measure the impact of the postponement of Lens-PSG on the group in the league," noted the L'Equipe commentator on X.

"Since the postponement, beating at Lille, beating at Brest, and a catastrophic start against Toulouse, saved by a red card. It would be great to have feedback from the club (they were disgusted, feeling that their work was trampled). Postpone between Matchday 33 and Matchday 34; you know you will drop too many points by then to give this match importance, so you decompress. Not everything is due to the postponement, but the whole club has been affected on different scales (confirmed info)." In this new context, the Lens-PSG match postponed to May 13 will be much less appealing.
