On what was otherwise a very good night, there was the blow of a former PSG player suffering a horrible injury that you would not wish upon anyone
On Tuesday night, PSG booked their place in the UEFA Champions League final second leg, with a 2-0 win away to Liverpool on the night, and a resounding 4-0 victory on aggregate.
Although the hosts played better than they did in the first leg, it was still a professional performance from Luis Enrique's side. They dug in when necessary, weathered storms, created chances and were clinical at important moments in the game.
However, there was one dampener on the night. Indeed, as former PSG attacker Hugo Ekitike, whilst in action for the opposition, went off injured in the first half. It has now been confirmed that he has ruptured his achilles.
This means that the 23-year old is looking at more than six months out, thus meaning that his World Cup dreams with the French national team are over, in an absolutely devastating blow.
So, whilst some international PSG fans may not be too bothered about what has happened to a former player, supporters from the capital and in France generally will be seriously gutted that the national team are losing a key attacking player.
Over the past international break, we saw Ekitike link up well with another former PSG forward in Kylian Mbappe, as well as the team's current number ten, Ousmane Dembele.
Interestingly, there is suggestion that Ekitike will be replaced in the squad by someone who is technically still a PSG player in on loan Spurs man Randal Kolo Muani, who is set to return to the club this summer.
He could join current first team players Desire Doue and Bradley Barcola as part of the attack, as well as Senny Mayulu, Warren Zaire-Emery, Lucas Hernandez and Lucas Chevalier in other parts of the team and squad.
As touched on earlier, this is not an injury you would wish on anyone at all, not least someone who has defended the PSG colours. Things may not have worked out for the striker in Paris, but it is clear the timing was not the best.
Perhaps if Ekitike had been part of the Enrique project, then things would have worked out differently. With how fluid and functional the team are compared to under Mauricio Pochettino, he certainly would have had a better side to play in. Sure, game time would have also been hard to come by, so there is that.
In any case, I'm sure all PSG fans wish him a speedy recovery, and hopefully we can see him back in action this calendar year.
