PSG eyes Arsenal's defender Gabriel. Gunners set a staggering €105 million price tag, testing PSG's summer transfer ambitions.
PSG needs a central defender this summer, and the candidates are numerous. But Arsenal's Gabriel profile attracts the French side.
Very solid in the Champions League this season, PSG nevertheless seeks to strengthen its central defense next season.
Marquinhos is nonetheless nearing the end of his career with Paris; Lucas Hernandez does not meet Luis Enrique's expectations; and, if Illia Zabarnyi escapes criticism from his coach, it must be acknowledged that he disappoints enormously. Willian Pacho will not be able to hold the fort alone forever, and a top-level player must be recruited next summer.
This is why PSG is reportedly dreaming of Gabriel Magalhaes, the cornerstone of Arsenal. Imperious in central defense, solid in duels, often very dangerous on set pieces, the Brazilian also has some experience in the French championship since he made a name for himself at Lille.
In recent weeks, Arsenal has seen Real Madrid and PSG come to make inquiries. The London club believes it has now grown up and is capable of saying no to the European giants courting its best elements. Plunged into the fight for the Premier League title and a Champions League semifinalist without being spectacular, Arsenal is focused on its objectives.
Nevertheless, according to SportsBoom, the Gunners will listen to proposals if they reach around €105 million. It would be a hefty sale for a 28-year-old player who still has three years left on his contract, after his extensions in 2023 and 2025.
Suffice it to say that Arsenal is not at its back against the wall, but PSG and Real Madrid at least know how much is required to recruit such a player. A price that can be frightening, but when you see that Paris put €70 million on Zabarnyi, everything can seem relative.
