Liverpool's fans face PSG's fearsome attack with dread. Champions League hopes are fading.

It's all doom and gloom in Liverpool even before the first leg against PSG in the Champions League. The Parisian offensive firepower and the Reds' current poor form have English supporters feeling utterly depressed.

The Premier League may well be considered the best league in the world, but PSG now inspires fear and respect. Especially since the Parisian club has made a habit of making English sides cry, as last season Manchester City, Arsenal, Aston Villa and Liverpool all bit the dust.

And this season, Chelsea have already done so, losing 8-2 on aggregate. As Liverpool arrive in poor form for Wednesday's quarterfinal first leg at the Parc des Princes, even the Reds' fans are in full gloom mode heading into the match.

Under the posts on Liverpool FC's official accounts, supporters are displaying a pessimism rarely seen from a team known for never giving up, and for being among the heavyweights of the Premier League and Europe in recent years.

"I hope we don't concede too many," "For the first time in 25 years, I don't believe in a win, but I don't want us to be embarrassed," "I have no hope for this match," "We're going to Paris, but what for?," "PSG is going to tear us apart," "I'm sure in the locker room they're not laughing much seeing what's coming," "Our defense is already shaking, I refuse to watch this match," fans wrote on the club's social media channels.

Even if there are still fans who remind everyone that Liverpool never gives up, PSG is considered the heavy favorite in this two-legged tie.

And the era when Paris could stumble at any moment in the Champions League now seems to be over -- at least in the eyes of Anfield's faithful.

Even Steve Gerrard, Liverpool's legendary No. 8, acknowledged that this two-legged tie was going to be very difficult, and that the most important match of the week might be the one scheduled for next weekend against Fulham.
