Goncalo Ramos eclipses Kylian Mbappe's supersub mark at PSG.
PSG is actually fortunate to have a player like Goncalo Ramos on its roster. The Portuguese player, who plays little, still manages to shine when head coach Luis Enrique calls on him.
Paris Saint-Germain will be playing for high stakes at the end of this season, between Ligue 1 and the Champions League. Enrique will need to be able to count on his entire squad.
Some players, used less often, could thus seize their chance. Recently, Lucas Beraldo was successfully repositioned to midfield. For his part, Ramos, 24, continues to be decisive when coming off the bench.
Against Toulouse last Friday night at the Parc des Princes, the Portuguese player found the back of the net just minutes after coming on. Enough to surpass a certain... Kylian Mbappe.
As ParisTeam recalled in recent hours (h/t Foot01), Ramos has indeed surpassed the former PSG forward as the team's supersub. The former Benfica player scored his 12th goal off the bench against Toulouse, surpassing Mbappe (11).
This season, he already has seven goals in all competitions after coming on as a substitute, the best total among the top five European leagues. Since arriving at PSG, Ramos has 45 goals, 21 of them as a substitute.
Ramos was also praised by Enrique after the match against Toulouse. The Spanish coach praised his level, but above all, his impeccable attitude. At the end of this season, the Paris Saint-Germain forward could still play a decisive role in important matches.
Next summer, however, looks more uncertain. It will be hard for the champions of Europe to keep Ramos, who is highly sought after and could be tempted to leave for a bigger role at a major European club.
