Ibrahim Mbaye is not playing as much as he would like at PSG, and, according to a French journalist, his contract situation could be the reason.

Less used in recent months, winger Ibrahim Mbaye is suffering from competition at PSG. That is indeed the explanation given by coach Luis Enrique. But in reality, his contractual situation may explain his low playing time.

Things are becoming worrying for Mbaye, 18. Regularly fielded in the first part of the season, the Paris Saint-Germain winger has seen his playing time drop since his return from the Africa Cup of Nations.

The Senegalese international was not even called up against Olympique Lyonnais (1-2 defeat) last Sunday. A simple competition problem, if Enrique is to be believed.

"Every minute you can play at Paris Saint-Germain must be special," the Parisian coach said. "I have no regrets about Ibrahim Mbaye, but you have to be ready for every minute. He was ready, but I expect much more from all players. It is simply competition. A player has to stay out of the group."

That is not quite the version of Ambre Godillon. For her part, the journalist claims that the disagreement between the management and the talent under contract until 2028 is creating tensions.

"Honestly, it is a somewhat particular case; it is not really like Senny Mayulu, who had moments to show himself and who was perhaps not convincing," commented the columnist for L'Equipe.

"Ibrahim Mbaye, the problem is even beyond the sporting aspect, the competition, those are talking points from Luis Enrique in front of the press. Luis Enrique cannot say what is happening behind the scenes and the contractual discussions around Mbaye's contract, who, for the moment, is not extending the adventure within Paris Saint-Germain."

"We know that this can tense up the Luis Campos camp. I believe there is, for the moment, a point of no return," she added.

"If they managed to 'loft' Kylian Mbappe, I'll let you imagine Ibrahim Mbaye. Senny Mayulu still fielded. It is not the same situation, they do not have the same status, and Luis Enrique does not have the same view of them." In other words, Paris Saint-Germain will make far less effort with Mbaye.
