France could host the 2026 Trophee des Champions. LFP eyes a domestic venue for the Super Cup, ending a recent run of overseas fixtures.

The LFP board of directors will meet on Thursday morning to discuss the possible postponements of Lens vs. PSG and Brest vs. Strasbourg. But the league will also discuss the organization of the 2026 Trophee des Champions (French Super Cup) and the venue that could host it.

The agenda for the LFP board of directors meeting, scheduled for Thursday morning, promises to be substantial. The members of the league's board of directors will have to decide on the postponement requests for the Lens vs. PSG and Brest vs. Strasbourg matches, but not only that. According to L'Equipe, the LFP will also discuss on Thursday the organization of the 2026 Trophee des Champions.

Last December, the LFP announced that this match would be played on Saturday, Aug. 15, 2026, one week before the start of the Ligue 1 season. According to L'Equipe, this match may finally be played on Sunday, Aug. 16, possibly linked to another competition, the European Super Cup, scheduled for Wednesday, Aug. 12.

If PSG wins Ligue 1, it will play the 2026 Trophee des Champions against the French Cup winner, but it could also be involved a few days earlier in the European Super Cup if it manages to go all the way in the Champions League, as it did last season.

Beyond the date of the Trophee des champions, the LFP board will also have to discuss its venue on Thursday. According to L'Equipe, there is a possibility that it will be played in France, which has not happened since January 2024, and the 2023 Trophee des Champions, which was won by PSG against Toulouse at the Parc des Princes. A match that was initially scheduled to be played in Thailand in the summer of 2023.

The last two Trophees des Champions were held in January 2025 in Doha and in January 2026 in Kuwait, with PSG winning each time. The next Trophee des Champions could therefore be played in France this summer, but L'Equipe does not rule out the Ivory Coast option either. A country where the first women's Coupe de la Ligue final took place on March 15, won by Lyon against PSG (1-0).
