A key Liverpool defender's injury casts doubt on their Champions League clash against PSG.

With Liverpool set to face PSG exactly one week from now at the Parc des Princes in the Champions League quarterfinal first leg, one of the English club's internationals suffered an injury Tuesday night with his national team.

One week to go before PSG-Liverpool in the Champions League quarterfinal first leg. A match everyone is eagerly anticipating, but one that several players will miss due to injury. On the Paris side, Quentin Ndjantou and Bradley Barcola will be unavailable for the first leg, with a slim chance of the former Lyon man returning for the return leg.

Senny Mayulu and Fabian Ruiz have resumed individual ball-handling training this week and could return to PSG's squad next Wednesday against the Reds, or even as early as Friday against Toulouse, though that remains to be confirmed in the coming hours.

On Liverpool's side, Arne Slot has several long-term injury absentees -- Stefan Bajcetic, Conor Bradley, Wataru Endo, and Giovanni Leoni -- but could recover Mohamed Salah as early as Saturday against Manchester City in the FA Cup quarterfinal. Salah was injured on March 18 against Galatasaray in the Champions League. Alexander Isak could also make his return soon, four months after his injury against Tottenham.

Frimpong Injured Against Pacho's Ecuador

Doubt, however, surrounds the availability of Brazilian goalkeeper Alisson Becker against PSG. He was injured on the eve of Liverpool's last match against Brighton before the break. The international break spared PSG but not Liverpool, which lost Dutch international Jeremie Frimpong to injury Tuesday night.

The former Bayer Leverkusen right wingback replaced club teammate Cody Gakpo at halftime of the friendly between the Netherlands and Ecuador -- which ended 1-1, with an own goal from Pacho -- but had to come off 14 minutes later with an injury. "It is a tough blow, we had to replace him," Ronald Koeman said after the match, without elaborating on the severity of the injury.

Frimpong has already suffered four muscular injuries this season, missing 25 matches in total -- a clearly worrying sign with one week to go before the first leg against PSG. The 25-year-old Dutch international can play both right-back and right-winger, meaning his absence against PSG would deprive the Reds of a versatile player capable of covering two positions.

If Frimpong's absence against PSG is confirmed, Joe Gomez should start at right back with Mohamed Salah ahead of him -- provided the Egyptian is fully recovered from his muscular problem last month.
