On Saturday, Renato Marin earned his first start with Paris Saint-Germain. Lucas Chevalier, his replacement for the day, wanted to send him a message for this milestone.
Arriving at PSG last summer to be the third-choice goalkeeper, Renato Marin quickly integrated into the capital club's squad. The former AS Roma player has been satisfying Luis Enrique and the Rouge et Bleu staff in training.
On Saturday night, during the round of 64 of the Coupe de France (French Cup) match against Vendee Fontenay Foot, the Italian-Brazilian (19 years old) was in the starting lineup and played his first match in a PSG jersey.
In a match where he had practically nothing to do, Renato Marin made two saves on the only two chances created by Vendee Fontenay Foot during PSG's wide victory (0-4). A first that could lead to others, as Matvey Safonov is absent for at least a month.
On the bench last night, Lucas Chevalier wanted to congratulate Renato Marin for his first professional match. In his Instagram story, the French international posted a photo of the two goalkeepers warming up with the following caption: "Congratulations, my friend."
The former Lille player is expected to return to goal for PSG, having not played since last Nov. 29 due to an ankle injury, against Paris FC on Jan. 4.
