Atletico Madrid and PSG central midfielder Kang-In Lee apparently already have an agreement for his signing this summer.
The recurrence in appearances as a starting player for Paris Saint-Germain central midfielder Kang-In Lee was considerably reduced.
Since he arrived in 2024, Lee, 25, has maintained a high level of play in almost all his matches, but this has not saved him from failing to fully convince PSG coach Luis Enrique.
With zero minutes played in the 2025/2026 Champions League final, fans suspected that things were not going well and that the South Korean's departure was imminent, a suspicion that was almost confirmed at the end of this season.
Weeks ago, especially last week, he was in the media spotlight over his supposed departure to another club, which he reportedly asked PSG for in search of more prominence.
According to recent information from Diario AS, both Lee and Atletico Madrid maintain a mutual interest. The Spanish club has been inquiring about the young player for weeks now; they even had contact with him for some time, but nothing formal has been reached.
PSG is already aware of the situation and is aware that one of its central midfielders will leave the club this summer, so his signing could be around €35M, a price that Atletico Madrid does not seem willing to pay that much, so they will seek to lower the price, according to the Spanish media outlet.
The Colchoneros' interest is longstanding, dating back to approximately 2023, so this summer transfer market will see whether they finally manage to finalize a deal with him.
Lee's talent has been unintentionally wasted at PSG, not because Luis Enrique does not want to consider him a starter, but because the reason goes beyond that. Within a squad full of stars competing for the position, such as Khvicha Kvaratskhelia or Desire Doue, things get tight, and decisions must be made.
Thanks to the player's versatility, his position is not entirely set, so he does not fully own a position. In addition, the Spanish coach usually selects him for less important matches, such as those in Ligue 1, to support player rotation.
Meanwhile, Lee remains occupied with the 2026 World Cup, playing for the South Korean national team. In fact, his performance with his national team has been vital to their victories, despite criticism after the match against Mexico (1-0), where he did not perform well enough, though he was among the best on his team.
Lee's future seems to be on pause for now, but it will resume once the World Cup commitments end.
