Luis Enrique reveals why he extended his contract at PSG until 2030, discussing his bond with Luis Campos and his ambition ahead of the clash with Manchester City.
Luis Enrique spoke at length to PSG's official website on the eve of the Champions League clash with Manchester City. The Spanish coach discussed why he extended his contract at PSG and reiterated his ambition to keep winning and make club history, especially in the Champions League.
After arriving at PSG in 2023, Luis Enrique extended his contract last September until 2030 and clearly has no intention of resting on his laurels. That is what emerged from his long interview with PSG's official website, published in recent hours, ahead of the Champions League clash with Manchester City.
"Paris is different; Paris is special. What we experienced here from day one meant a lot to me. That is why we continue, why we seek to improve," the Spanish coach said, as fulfilled as ever at PSG.
"There is the trust of the club, the presidents, and Luis Campos. The connection with Luis Campos was special from day one. It is a magnificent combination. We are all together; we seek to improve even more, to enjoy what we do, and to make our supporters happy. That is ultimately the most important motivation."
Luis Enrique Wants to Follow in Real Madrid's Footsteps
Luis Enrique doesn't hide it: the Champions League holds special significance for him and his team, and he intends to do everything possible to secure a third consecutive title.
"We are made to play in the Champions League. We have additional motivation: to achieve something only Real Madrid has managed so far. It is a special goal. We'll play Manchester City away and Barcelona at home. They are two teams that love winning the Champions League, that have already won it, and that are among the favorites."
And when asked if his ambition is to make PSG a global benchmark, Luis Enrique responds: "I would like that to be the case, especially because it would show that we are a team that plays with aggression, but not a team that hits its opponents or accumulates yellow and red cards. I would like us to be recognized as a respectful, courageous, and ambitious team, made up of players of great talent."
