Luis Enrique praised PSG's bench impact after the Strasbourg win, saying the substitutes are "less tired than the rest" and bring more space.
After the win in Strasbourg, which he enjoyed despite a long, complicated period, PSG head coach Luis Enrique returned to the Ligue 1+ microphone to discuss the match and rejoiced in how his troops secured the three points.
We were just talking about the impact of the substitutes, and it's true: it's become your habit. Giovanni Reyna was at our microphone a few moments ago and said, "When you see Dembélé, Hakimi, Doué, Vitinha, Nuno Mendes coming on, that's a lot."
"But it's usual! Every match, when the players who are on the bench come on, they are less tired than the rest. It's usual; they have more space, and the result is negative, so it has to change. We are happy; it was very difficult. We started the match, I think, well. We had big chances, but we didn't score. After that, we conceded one, and it started to shake a little, but in the end we got what we wanted: the win. We are happy."
It's true that this season you have found yourselves in this situation several times, behind on the scoreboard. In your opinion, what needs to be adjusted to avoid that?
"Adjusted? All matches are difficult, especially away. But I really like giving my players the chance to show me they are ready. And if I speak in terms of ambition and what we are looking for, I am happy. After that, you have to value and judge the performances. That is, in the end, the key to everything in soccer. But I am happy. We suffered, but in the end, we won the three points, and we are in the top three. That is our goal."
You are even co-leaders of Ligue 1 after this win. Perhaps one point to adjust: these penalties, we can mention them. Paris Saint-Germain has missed 9 of the last 19. How can you simply work on that?
"Work, that's the quality. It's true that it has happened (that way) in recent years; there isn't a specialist. But I think that every time we have reached penalty shootouts in finals, any final, we are there. The players have the personality and quality, and we have a lot of confidence, especially in the players. But it's true, we don't have a true specialist."
