Former Paris Saint-Germain player Marco Verratti is delighted with the trajectory of the Parisian club. The Italian midfielder believes he contributed to the Parisians' success in the Champions League.

Verratti is not jealous. On the contrary, the Italian savors PSG's evolution since his departure in 2023. The former Parisian experienced multiple failures in the Champions League and is delighted to see the capital club at the summit of Europe. It must be said that the 2019-20 finalist believes his generation is involved in the success of Luis Enrique's men.

"I think these are two slightly different eras of soccer," Verratti said in an interview with The National News. "When PSG launched the project, it was always a very ambitious project in which they wanted to win all the trophies every year. They finally managed to win this Champions League; it was the only trophy missing for them."

"There are differences because they are different players, but it is also linked to the way soccer has evolved over time," explained the Al-Duhail midfielder in Qatar. "Today, it is a team and a club that deserves to be where they are. I think it is the result of several years of work that has made this club incredible, a club with a very strong identity recognized worldwide. That is what is most gratifying."

Verratti's satisfaction is also explained by the presence of Vitinha and Joao Neves, two midfielders who evoke memories for him. "Today, I love both of them. I love Vitinha and Joao Neves because they are the same height as me. We have a similar playing style and the same way of seeing soccer. They are very important players for the club, and I enjoy watching them play," said the fervent PSG supporter.
