Ousmane Dembele is entitled to a few days of rest, granted by mutual agreement with Luis Enrique and PSG. For the 2025 Ballon d’Or winner, the time is not for a departure but for a contract extension.
At a time when some wanted to make people believe that there was trouble brewing between Ousmane Dembele and his coach following the latter’s decision to take him off at the break against Rennes, Fabrice Hawkins, a journalist for RMC and a colleague of Daniel Riolo, takes the opposite view from everyone.
Indeed, Hawkins says that not only does Ousmane Dembele have no intention of leaving Paris Saint-Germain, but he will also extend his contract with the two-time European champions. The 29-year-old forward still has two years left on his contract and has no intention of leaving PSG for free.
Fabrice Hawkins says Ousmane Dembele will not sign an XXL extension, but everyone already seems to agree on the terms of the future contract.
“PSG still wants to extend Ousmane Dembele. The idea is to extend his contract by one or two years, that is, until 2029 or 2030. Negotiations with his entourage have been ongoing for several months, with no particular concern in Paris: the player and the club are aligned on continuing the adventure. The discussions will resume after the transfer window,” indicates RMC’s transfer window specialist, who thus puts out the corridor rumours about a possible departure of the French international during this transfer market to Saudi Arabia or elsewhere.
What Daniel Riolo Said About Ousmane Dembele Leaving PSG?
On RMC's airwaves on Tuesday, the After Foot journalist dropped a real bombshell, asserting that a departure could not be ruled out for Dembele before Sept. 1. "There is a problem between Dembele and PSG. This week of rest looks like a heavy punishment," said Riolo, adding: "I am not even ruling out a departure. I would not fall out of my chair if it happened."
Enough to stir up the web and worry the Parisian supporters, quickly reassured by the insider Djamel, whose information about PSG is always very reliable.
"Luis Enrique simply proposed that he take a few days to breathe and come back at 100%. A proposal happily accepted by the player," he specified.
Riolo may have been a bit hasty in raising a major problem between Dembele and PSG, or even a departure. The journalist acknowledged this on X on Wednesday, the day after that eventful evening.
