Luis Enrique's full pre-match press conference transcript before PSG's final Ligue 1 match against Paris FC. The PSG coach discusses the derby, the Champions League final, and more.

On the eve of the Parisian derby against Paris FC in Ligue 1, PSG coach Luis Enrique answered questions from the media in a pre-match news conference.

On Sunday night, PSG will play its last match of the season in Ligue 1. For Ligue 1 matchday 34, Luis Enrique's team will face Paris FC at Stade Jean-Bouin for the third Parisian derby of the season.

On the eve of this match, the Rouge et Bleu coach appeared at a pre-match news conference.

Q: Lens, a good opponent this season.

A: I don't remember any easy away match. It is difficult to value, but it is true. We won many matches despite suffering and with resilience. After the match in Munich, we are not used to defending so much. We did almost the same thing against Lens. In moments of suffering, we defended together. We are a very dangerous team on the counterattack. It was a nice victory that showed the true level of both teams, and it was a lot of fun. In the end, we won this championship fairly, but it was a complicated process.

Q: What did you appreciate most this season in Ligue 1?

A: This season has been very particular. After winning the Champions League, we were not able to celebrate as usual, and we did not have a vacation. After the celebrations, we played the Club World Cup. After this Champions League final, the players will leave to play the World Cup. The calendar is like that. The most motivating thing for me is to show everyone the same spirit and mentality this year, regardless of which team plays or which players. You can see the same mentality to prepare for the match. It shows each player's individual level, and I am very happy. After today's training, we identified the areas for improvement for each player. It is a pleasure to see these types of players and to see how they work.

Q: The match against Paris FC.

A: We are the champions, and we must win with the PSG jersey against a good Paris FC. We are happy to play this last match at home. Even if we are the away team, there is no travel, and we can celebrate after the match. The best way to prepare for the final (of the Champions League) is to perform well in tomorrow's match. I have no doubt that the team will play with the same mentality.

Q: What do you want to highlight in your team's journey this season?

A: A particular season, that is a word I have said many times. It is true that it has been particular. I am the happiest about the mentality we have shown all season. Resilience is a word I like. It has been hard because Lens did a very good job. They won many consecutive matches.

Q: Bradley Barcola, who had a season in cycles.

A: This is not the time to talk individually about the players. We are a team focused on the last matches. This Ligue 1 match is useful to prepare for the Champions League final. It is not the time to talk individually about players, before or after their injuries. It is time to stay focused, prepare for tomorrow's match, and complete the training sessions over the next two weeks to arrive in the best possible condition for the Champions League final. That is the most important thing for me and for the players.

Q: Your thoughts on Lucas Chevalier's situation, not called up for the World Cup.

A: Tomorrow will be a real test of what we are looking for as a team. If we have shown all the time that we are a real team, it is because the individual situation is not more important than the team. At the moment, there is no individual issue more important than the team's situation. There are two matches left: one match to prepare for the Champions League final, then the final. That is our objective. We remain focused on that.

Q: What will you focus on to prepare for the Champions League final?

A: The first thing to do is to adapt to the calendar. We are not playing the French Cup final, so we have to prepare for the next two weeks. We will have time for tactical training to discuss defense and attack. The objective is to arrive with the players in the best physical and technical conditions for the final. In the final, it is impossible to name a favorite.

Q: For the preparation of the final, do you prefer to keep things as they are or do different things?

A: It depends on what the team needs. If the team needs to change, we change everything. If the team needs to repeat the things it does well... It depends on injuries, each player's condition, and what they show in training. I am always open with my players during training. I take advantage of training sessions to see if there is a player who is at 100% even though he does not play. For me, a training session is like a match. Then, of course, you have to show yourself in matches, but there is not only one path to reach the final. I am always open to making changes where needed. I have no problem changing things. My work is not based on chance; it is something more important than that.

Q: The Parisian derby against Paris FC with a very close stadium.

A: I think it is very special. When I came to play Barcelona against PSG, I was surprised that it was right next door. It is special, but it is wonderful for us. We are very happy to play the last match away, but in Paris. It is one less trip. Paris FC has shown its ability to stay in Ligue 1. For us, it is always special to play a derby. We have to prepare for the match. It is an opportunity to show our level. It is important to prepare for the final on May 30.

Q: A trophy presentation that will take place before the match.

A: Normally, there are always problems, regardless of the country and the league. When you have to celebrate, there are always people who are a little upset. I have already celebrated the title. Regardless of the celebration, we are champions, and that is the most important thing.

Q: The importance of the substitutes in this Ligue 1 season.

A: This season has been particular for that. I could not do as usual because there were moments when we could not rotate or manage. We had many injuries, and it was very difficult. But, at the same time, it showed the level of the players who did not have much playing time. Throughout the season, we showed our ability to manage three competitions. Unfortunately, we were eliminated by Paris FC in the French Cup. But in the end, it was positive because we had one less competition to play.

Q: Against Paris FC, will there be spots to earn for the starting lineup against Arsenal?

A: There are still many players who cannot play tomorrow. We are going to manage the minutes to arrive on May 30, which is the most important condition. Then, regardless of the player, we like to perform; that is how we see things. We will try to win tomorrow's match.

Q: How do you stay competitive without preparation?

A: It is genetics. The staff members and I have that competitive edge to be ready, regardless of the competition. If you see me on the beaches of Gijon, I am competitive too. When I play with my children, I am competitive. It is genetic, it is not an effort for me and the people who work with me, like Luis Campos. It is important to know that. It helps to prepare for all matches. I wake up ready.

Q: How do the players approach this second Champions League final?

A: The first was incredible and unforgettable. But right now, I don't remember the first one: it belongs to history, and I am not interested in history. The first has no value. It will remain in history, but I am not interested in that. The second is the most important; it is the one we want to win. If I am honest, we have not yet talked deeply about the final. We have talked about the importance of tomorrow's match, where we will have to show what type of team we are. The best way to prepare for the final is to play with intensity tomorrow. After that, there will be time to talk and reflect on the final. The final will be decided by small details, such as a game against Liverpool, Chelsea, or Bayern Munich.

Q: What did you feel when you lifted the Champions League with PSG?

A: If I am honest, I don't remember anything. If you think about the past, you are distracted, and I don't want to be distracted. I am fully convinced that we can win the second Champions League. That is my motivation and the team's. That is why we are preparing for tomorrow's match in these conditions. If you stay focused on the past or on what you can do, you can be distracted. I don't want any distracted players. I want everyone, including the supporters, to be ready. I know the supporters will be there because they have always been there, at home and away, regardless of the result. We want to live up to that. To do that, we have to stay focused on the things we can control. The thing we can control is tomorrow's match.
