PSG beat FC Barcelona (4-2) in the Champions League but lost Ousmane Dembele, Marquinhos, and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia to injuries.
Paris Saint-Germain faced FC Barcelona (4-2) in the Champions League this Tuesday, and both teams delivered performances worthy of Europe's elite.
Previously, PSG faced Manchester City last Wednesday, Oct. 14 (2-4). After watching both matches, we can conclude that with the Parisian club, you cannot get distracted for even a minute, or they will eat you alive.
Barcelona started with possession. The pressure was high, but PSG handled it, with Desire Doue opening the scoring in the 38th minute on an assist from Joao Neves, as in the match against City.
However, before celebrating the goal, Parisian fans held their breath after star forward Ousmane Dembele left the field, apparently injured in the 20th minute.
For the second half, the roles were reversed. Barcelona's first goal came in the 55th minute thanks to left-back Xavi Espart. The bad news increased for the Rouge et Bleu, since both captain Marquinhos and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia left the field due to injuries.
Fortunately for the Parisians, Lucas Hernandez scored a spectacular header in the 72nd minute, which served as motivation for the team to increase the pace and not let themselves fall behind against the opponent.
Lamine Yamal, despite not having had the best performance of the night, scored the equalizer in the 79th minute, but was quickly overshadowed after Vitinha scored the third goal, followed by Fabian Ruiz, in the 81st and 86th minutes, respectively.
After scoring the 4 goals, Barcelona could do little despite trying on several occasions, which gave PSG the sweet victory with Doue taking the MVP of the match.
Although it was a very chaotic night full of such spectacular goals, not everything was satisfactory. PSG centre-back Willian Pacho suffered a blow to the forehead from Fermin Lopez, and many were unhappy because no red card was shown. Even so, Pacho decided to continue with the match.
In addition to that incident, obvious concern arises among the Parisian fans. Three of their key players went off injured, and although the next Champions League match will not be until Nov. 3, they have two other Ligue 1 matches before that commitment.
As of today, PSG is in second place in the Ligue 1 standings, below Lyon, whom they will face next Sunday, so will the squad that remains available be enough for the Parisian club to move up one more spot? We will find out until the weekend, meanwhile, PSG can go rest enjoying today's victory.
