According to several, highly reputable and trustworthy reports, PSG are close to resigning a former first team player during this summer transfer window

Although the masses are preoccupied with this summer's FIFA World Cup in the USA, Canada and Mexico, the 26/27 summer transfer window is open for PSG and everyone else.

Well, we now have an update on another incoming. Indeed so, as it now being reported by Abdellah Boulma (and various others) that PSG are set to sign former left back Lucas Digne from Premier League side Aston Villa.

As per multiple reports, including from Boulma, the fee is set to be less than 10 million Euros, as the club have activated a release clause in his contract at Villa that runs until 2028.

Fabrice Hawkins states that Digne will sign a three year contract at PSG, and that the clause will be activated after the World Cup, of which the defender is a part of with the French national team.

Elsewhere, Marc Mechenoua reports that the club have been working quietly on this deal behind the scenes in recent weeks. He says that Digne is attached to PSG and wanted to comeback - he and his family attended a game vs Toulouse last season.

Back between 2013 and 2015, the Frenchman played for PSG, playing 30 Ligue 1 games across two seasons. He played in the defence with Marquinhos back then, who still remains at the club today, crazy.

This feels like a sensible signing at that price. Some solid cover for Nuno Mendes. Lucas Hernandez has filled in there over the last couple of years, but is more of a central defender than a left back, especially after his tough injuries.

Given his aforementioned love for the club, you imagine that Digne is more than happy to be a cover player, who can slot in here and there when Mendes needs a rest.  With the increased schedule in the Champions League, having the soon to be 33 year old for the games against fodder will be pretty handy.

He will also have already played with a number of the current PSG players for the France national team. They will all be taking on Spain in the first semi final tomorrow evening at 21:00 CET. Digne has managed to play himself into the starting XI.
