Luis Enrique backs Mika Godts despite criticism. The PSG coach praises the Belgian winger's potential after his performances for Belgium.

If there is one thing that helps Paris Saint-Germain players grow and gives them the extra on the field, it is the coach's approval, and that is exactly what has happened to Mika Godts.

The young Belgian arrived at the Parisian club from Ajax at the end of July this year, and although his first appearances for PSG were marked by a couple of hesitations and unclear plays, the coach, Luis Enrique, has no doubt about his potential.

Although people doubted Godts a little, Luis Enrique has shown us that he can polish great talents, and it is only a matter of them adapting properly.

Previously, No. 22 of PSG had a very good 2025/2026 season with his former club, scoring 17 goals, so we must be patient and wait for him to regain his form.

In fact, Godts was called up by the Belgian national team for the international break, where the left winger had a standout performance, scoring against the Italian national team. The club's directors did not miss those merits.

However, some media outlets are not happy with Godts's slow integration, such as L'Équipe, which harshly criticized the young player.

"Aside from Lucas Digne, who has barely played, Godts is the big disappointment. 55 million euros were paid for him, including bonuses. The Belgian will undoubtedly bring something with his threat and his one-on-one qualities, but he still has to earn his place. And so far we have not seen any of that."

The adaptation of new players always keeps people impatient because the process is often imprecise and results are expected immediately, but the PSG coach is not worried about that.

According to Le Parisien, the gradual integration Mika Godts has shown was what the board expected. For Luis Enrique and the board, it is important that the 21-year-old takes his time and adapts his abilities.

"Personally involved in the signing of Mika Godts, Luis Enrique frequently praises his temperament, creativity, mobility, and ability to create danger," the outlet stated.

Recently, at a news conference before the match against Le Mans FC, Luis Enrique was asked about Mika Godts, his performance with the Belgian national team, and how he handled integrating new players into the team.

"It is important that he keeps calm and serenity to face this new path in the best possible way. I saw him play very well and with a lot of personality. I liked how he played with Belgium," the coach said.

Regarding the integration of new players, the Spanish coach made it clear that the players' level is higher than last year's, especially in training, so fans can be assured that, in due time, Godts will demonstrate his level.
