PSG and Luis Enrique have been dealt with their first injury blow during this drawn out international break, as Ferran Torres has today officially left the Spain national team camp due to injury.

It has been a very good start to life in the French capital for PSG forward Ferran Torres, having arrived from Spanish giants FC Barcelona during the summer transfer window.

He has scored seven goals in just six games, and around 3.6 full 90's worth of minutes, with just three starts. His strikes have already won the team five points in Ligue 1. Without them, the team would currently be in 17th in the league with just three points so far.

However, there are now concerns over his upcoming availability. Indeed so, as on Friday afternoon (the 2nd of October, 2026), it was confirmed that the 26-year old had withdrawn from national team duty with Spain, with some discomfort in his left ankle.

Some people will say this is typical for a player to feign injury to pull out of international duty, but we can not say that is the case until it is proven. Until something suggests otherwise, we have to assume it is a genuine injury that has been sustained.

Let's see what happens. In Spain's opening UEFA Nations League clash with England at Wembley, Torres started the game and played the first 55 minutes, missing two very presentable opportunities in the first half. He was then an unused sub in their second game, as they defeated Croatia 4-1 in Seville.

So, you assume this injury has been sustained in training since then, though it certainly does nothing to disprove the theory that it is not really an injury. But, well, hopefully there will be some updates in that regard sooner rather than later.

After this extended international break, there are some very important games for PSG, including UEFA Champions League games against two of Torres' former clubs in Manchester City (bit awkward) and Barcelona on the 14th and 20th of this month respectively. So it will be crucial to have the World Cup winner back for those games in particular.

PSG team mate Fabian Ruiz has also been involved during this break, and extended his crazy record with the national team to 52 games without defeat (in 90 minutes), which is the most for any player with any nation ever. He will be hoping that will become 53 when Spain take on Czechia in their third game of this break on Saturday evening, with kick off at 20:45 CEST. We will provide you with all the updates there.
